Situated in the heart of Nafplio’s historic old town, this 130 sq.m. residence occupies the upper floor of a two-story building with an attic. The residence boasts panoramic views of the sea, with a design that merges historical charm with modern sophistication. Our goal was to reimagine the space, transforming it into a functional, elegant, and visually stimulating environment that reflects the beauty of its location while addressing the needs of contemporary living.

The design of the interior was inspired by a blend of open space principles and the surrounding historical context. The structure presented a “blank canvas”—with minimal construction limitations—allowing us to create a space that flows seamlessly, offering a sense of expansiveness and connection between rooms.

Our approach balanced minimalism with classical elegance, resulting in a timeless, yet fresh, aesthetic. Light, vibrant colors were strategically incorporated to enhance the space, with deep blue and bronze tones as dominant accents. These were complemented by walnut veneer finishes, adding warmth, depth, and a sense of refined luxury throughout the residence.

Functional Layout and Space Planning

The layout of the residence is designed with functionality and ease of living in mind. The open-plan living, dining, and kitchen areas are arranged to ensure natural light flows freely through the space, creating an airy and bright environment. The placement of the furniture and fixtures within the space allows for flexible use, with clear zones for both relaxation and entertainment.

Bathrooms as Standalone Design Pieces

The bathrooms are a highlight of the design, each crafted to stand alone as a small design masterpiece. Finished with high-quality natural stone-like tiles, the bathrooms exude a sense of understated luxury. Features such as freestanding bathtubs, minimalist fixtures, and statement mirrors contribute to the overall luxurious experience, while maintaining the modern, clean aesthetic of the home.

Attic Conversion: A Youthful, Fresh Bedroom
The attic was transformed into an additional bedroom with a youthful atmosphere, offering a cozy retreat within the home. The use of soft, calming tones contrasts with the more robust colors used in the rest of the residence. This room is designed to offer freshness and a sense of tranquility, serving as a perfect space for rest or a private office.

Material Palette and Finishes
The material choices were key in balancing the contemporary aesthetic with classical elements. The herringbone walnut flooring throughout the residence provides both sophistication and warmth. The walls are adorned with a combination of soft, neutral tones and pops of color that complement the surrounding environment.

 Outdoor Connection
The residence also boasts an expansive roof terrace with stunning views of the sea, providing the perfect space for outdoor dining or relaxation. The design integrates natural elements with sleek, modern furnishings, enhancing the connection to the outdoor space.

Sustainability & Modern Living
While the design maintains respect for the home’s historical context, it also embraces modern technology to enhance comfort and sustainability. High-efficiency lighting and energy-saving appliances are incorporated into the design, providing long-term value and reducing the home’s environmental impact.
