Situated in the heart of Nafplio’s historic old town, this 120 sq.m. residence occupies the upper floor of a two-story building with an attic. Firstly, the residence boasts panoramic sea views, while the design merges historical charm with modern sophistication. Our goal was to reimagine the space and transform it into a functional, elegant, and visually stimulating environment that reflects the beauty of its location and addresses contemporary living needs.
The interior design draws inspiration from open space principles and the surrounding historical context. The structure presented a “blank canvas” with minimal construction limitations, which allowed us to create a space flowing seamlessly and offering a sense of expansiveness and connection between rooms. Moreover, our approach balances minimalism with classical elegance, resulting in a timeless yet fresh aesthetic. We strategically incorporated light, vibrant colors, highlighting deep blue and bronze tones as dominant accents. Walnut veneer finishes complement these colors by adding warmth, depth, and refined luxury throughout the residence.
Functional Layout and Space Planning
The layout prioritizes functionality and ease of living. The open-plan living, dining, and kitchen areas allow natural light to flow freely, creating an airy and bright environment. Additionally, the furniture and fixtures placement encourages flexible use with clear zones for both relaxation and entertainment.
Key Interior Features
Living Area: It features sleek, modern furniture paired with artful details honoring the building’s classical roots. Walnut accents provide rich contrast to lighter tones, while bronze elements add sophistication and elegance.
Kitchen and Dining: This space combines practical storage solutions with contemporary design elements. The adjacent dining area fosters an inviting environment for family and friends to gather.
Bathrooms as Standalone Design Pieces
The bathrooms stand out as design masterpieces. We finished them with high-quality, natural stone-like tiles that exude understated luxury. Features such as freestanding bathtubs, minimalist fixtures, and statement mirrors contribute to this luxurious, modern aesthetic.
Attic Conversion: A Youthful, Fresh Bedroom
We transformed the attic into an additional bedroom with a youthful atmosphere, offering a cozy retreat. Soft, calming tones contrast with the robust colors used in the rest of the residence. This room provides freshness and tranquility, ideal for rest or a private office.
Material Palette and Finishes
The material choices balance contemporary aesthetics with classical elements. The herringbone walnut flooring adds sophistication and warmth throughout the residence. Walls combine soft, neutral tones with pops of color to complement the surrounding environment.
Outdoor Connection
The residence also includes an expansive roof terrace with stunning sea views. This space is perfect for outdoor dining or relaxation. The design integrates natural elements with sleek, modern furnishings, enhancing the connection to the outdoors.
